The dangers of love...

Sawyer is a great big brother most of the time. He has his moments, usually when Eden is bothering his toys or food, when he lets her know she has over stepped a boundary. He usually does this by shoving her. We are working on that. He has gotten better and now will usually tell us, "Check on Baby!". This means you have about 5 seconds to get her before I take matters into my own hands.

He has many sweet moments as well. He will talk back to her when she is squawking by squawking back at her. She thinks it is hilarious. She thinks everything he does is hilarious and lights up whenever he pays any attention to her.

When she wakes from a nap and he hears her on the monitor - he will tell me to "check on Baby".

This week our furnace died. As a result, the kids had to go to the sitter all day on Monday and Tuesday and were supposed to on Wednesday as well when Sawyer woke up with a fever, so I decided to just take Eden so she would be able to nap, etc. Sawyer was very upset when we left her at Ms. Cheryl's. All the way home he kept saying, "Find Baby!" and "Check on Baby." He had tears in his eyes. It was really sweet. He asked about her several times during the day and Ms. Cheryl said Eden kept looking around and was extra clingy that morning as well.

Sawyer has also decided to start sharing with Eden, this is where it gets a little dangerous. Since he was sick this week, we were trying to get him to eat by getting him one of his favorites, a cheese quesadilla. He decided he would share with Eden and shoved a big piece in her mouth, "Baby bite!" She proceeded to choke and Brandon had to fish it out of her throat.

He also tries to shove puffs in her mouth and tries to get her to drink from her sippy cup by practically smashing it in her face. It is all very sweet, because he only has very good intentions. He sees us do these things and he is trying to help and take care of her as well. It is hard to explain how to be easy or that Eden can only have small bites of certain foods.

Tonight his sharing was especially cute. We will often give Eden a drink of water by pulling the straw out of our drink and letting her suck it out. Sawyer had a cup of lemonade tonight and he kept pulling the straw out and putting it in Eden's mouth, as they were sitting next to each other in the double stroller. He didn't know how to keep the liquid in the straw, so she wasn't getting anything. She was delighted by the attention. He did this probably 20 times and it was very effective at keeping them both entertained.

It is just so sweet to see them interact in this way. I love to see him care for her. He has a sweet heart. I love to see the joy it brings to her face to have him pay attention to her.

I just have to watch carefully to make sure he doesn't jab the straw down her throat or in an eye!
